Physio Clinic in London, Wandsworth Physiotherapy, Announces New Services

Wandsworth, London - A local rehabilitation centre in London, Wandsworth Physiotherapy, has introduced some cutting-edge new treatments and technology for their patients. The new technology includes ultrasound diagnostics and imagery-guided injections. Owner and CEO, Steve Hines, says “We’ve started using ultrasound scanning at Wandsworth Physiotherapy and Osteopathy. Ultrasound is a great in-clinic way of scanning certain parts of the body. We can use ultrasound really well to look at peripheral joints such as the shoulder, knee, or ankle.”

Ultrasound has been shown to be comparable to MRI in terms of diagnosing shoulder problems such as a rotator cuff tear. Having an ultrasound scan in a clinical setting is much easier, more accessible, and cheaper than having an MRI in a private hospital. Ultrasound scans are very quick and simple to use and give great pictures of shoulder tendons and bursa which can help to diagnose rotator cuff tears or shoulder bursitis. They are also great for looking at ankle ligament sprains and knee joint problems.

Ultrasound is great for looking at the peripheral joints, the shoulder elbow and wrist, as well as the hip knee and ankle. Ultrasound provides accurate imagery when looking at soft tissues such as muscle strains, ligament sprains, and tendinopathy. With this accurate imager, injections can be delivered to the exact points. Injections are a great adjunct to physiotherapy or osteopathy treatment for many different injuries.

Hines explains the benefits of their services and technology to patients by saying: “the benefits include having quick and easy access to both ultrasound imaging and ultrasound guided injections. The conventional route would be either via your GP and the NHS, which may entail months of waiting unless you are lucky to have private medical insurance. This means that we can often treat patients in the acute phase, getting their pain better and preventing problems from becoming chronic where outcomes become worse. We also offer the services at a reasonable price for self-funding patients which are considerably less than MRIs and other treatments from private medical clinics.”

Wandsworth Physiotherapy is a multi-disciplinary practice located in Wandsworth high street where they have been operating for the past 8 years. Their team includes physiotherapists, osteopaths, nutritionists, podiatrists and massage therapists. Wandsworth Physiotherapy and Osteopathy also offer PRP, hyaluronic acid, and steroid injections and these can be used to treat things such as rotator cuff tendinopathy, knee joint arthritis, tennis elbow or plantar fasciitis amongst many other things.

Hines, looking to the future, says “We have big plans for the future including taking more space so we can add more treatment rooms and also a studio space which we can use for Pilates and yoga classes and exercise rehabilitation.”
