DITP builds on last year’s success with the Multimedia Online Virtual Exhibition – MOVE 2021

By: Get News

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) held the first edition of the Multimedia Online Virtual Exhibition – MOVE – in 2020. Launched in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, it provided a valuable link between Thailand’s digital content industry and overseas markets in a time when face-to-face events were cancelled.

Spearheaded by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Jurin Laksanawisit, it resulted in 354 business matches and generated a revenue of over 1.845 billion Baht.

Somdet Susomboon, Director-General of DITP, Department of International Trade Promotion or DITP under the Ministry of Commerce, announced that MOVE 2021 will be held in June 2021. It will build on last year’s achievements, introducing Thai digital content to new markets and creating new partnership opportunities.

Many industries worldwide have suffered due to the restrictions necessitated by COVID-19, and the film and television industries are no exception. While audiences for streaming content are stronger than ever, the obstacles presented to production and the restrictions on international travel have impacted physical production and international marketing plans.

The DITP therefore introduced MOVE to act as an online platform to allow Thai film entrepreneurs to reach the global market.

Established companies with an international presence and new companies with limited international experience can benefit from the opportunity.

In 2021, MOVE will contain a comprehensive database of Thai production studios and content which will enable visitors from all over the world to research and assess the business potential.

Emulating the experience of a traditional film market, visitors will also be able to make appointments and conduct meetings with company representatives. These on-line sessions will enable Thai and international meeting partners to discuss their business and content requirements, view trailers and previews, and thus forge new business relationships.

Thailand’s most successful and prolific studios will be represented, as well as young companies with fresh content.

MOVE will also provide a link to government agencies and organizations which can give advice on incentives and support, and links to overseas trade offices.

Seminars and presentations will also provide valuable background to the creative and technical skills offered in Thailand.

Somdet Susomboon, Director-General of DITP said, “Thailand has earned a reputation for producing high quality digital content with worldwide appeal. MOVE is a demonstration of the government’s commitment to supporting the industry; in times when markets are flourishing; and in times when the business environment is more challenging. MOVE will assist Thailand’s entrepreneurs to find the international markets that their content deserves.”
