DESCRIPTION:

By Kim Allman | Head of Corporate Responsibility and Government Affairs

Building and preserving a culture of trust and transparency is a principal part of our corporate vision and operating model. This steadfast commitment has helped us inform, empower, and engage our stakeholders and has led us to today, the release of our first Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report.

We have a long history of providing an annual disclosure of our most critical ESG commitments and performance. In our 2020 Corporate Responsibility Report, we provided our first Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Index, shared the results of our priority ESG issue assessment, and published a broad set of investor-oriented ESG performance metrics. The 2020 report provided a foundation for our transition to an ESG Report this year.

Our top Corporate Responsibility priority in FY21 remained leveraging NortonLifeLock’s leading expertise and technology in Cyber Safety to help protect communities. Whether through our dedication to eradicating stalkerware, our trainings for domestic violence victims and survivors, and our initiatives supporting online safety like Surf Smart 2.0 and The Smart Talk, we strive to empower everyone to live their digital lives safely.

Several of the most notable achievements highlighted in our 2021 ESG Report include:

  • With a retail value of over $4 million, our product donations helped keep nonprofits’, public libraries’, and families’, devices and data secure.
  • We achieved a 52% Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions reduction. While this was primarily driven by a significant consolidation of our data center operations and a reduction in refrigerant losses, office closures in response to the pandemic also contributed to the decrease.
  • Globally, women make up 33% of our workforce. We are pleased to have increased global gender diversity by 2% between FY20 and FY21. Another milestone in FY21 was reaching gender parity for the independent members of our Board of Directors. We also continued to fund the Reboot Representation Tech Coalition, providing $200,000 to this nonprofit which is committed to doubling the number of Black, Latina, and Native American women graduating with computing degrees by 2025.
  • $1.9M in charitable giving. We are proud of our year-long culture of giving and the enthusiasm with which employees joined our virtual volunteer program. Through the efforts of our internal teams and leaders, we were able to have a significant impact in a time of great need. This included donating more than 400,000 meals to help feed our neighbors in December and contributing nearly $200,000 to high-impact nonprofits during Giving Tuesday.
