On January 26, 2006, Ashford Hospitality Trust, Inc. (the “Company”) entered into a definitive
agreement to acquire the Marriott at Research Triangle Park in Durham, North Carolina, for
approximately $28.0 million in cash from Host Marriott Corporation. The acquisition is expected to
close in February 2006. The press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated
herein by reference.
