On October 7, 2005, The Meridian Resource Corporation issued a press
release regarding a preliminary assessment of the effects of Hurricane Katrina
on the company's operations and results of operations for the third quarter of
2005. A copy of the press release is attached to this report as Exhibit 99.1 and
is hereby incorporated herein by reference.
