INCO EXTENDS ITS OFFER FOR FALCONBRIDGE
Toronto, July 13, 2006 — Inco Limited (TSX, NYSE:N) announced today that it will extend the expiry time of its offer to acquire all of the outstanding common shares of Falconbridge Limited (TSX, NYSE:FAL) until midnight (Vancouver time) on Monday, July 24, 2006, in order to allow more time for Falconbridge shareholders to tender to the offer. All of the other terms and conditions of Inco’s offer for Falconbridge remain unchanged.
Inco also announced that, while a growing number of acceptances were received over the course of the last week, it does not expect the minimum tender condition to be satisfied prior to the previous expiry time of the offer of 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2006. The minimum tender condition under the Inco offer requires that there have been validly deposited under the offer and not withdrawn at least 66 2/3 per cent of the Falconbridge common shares outstanding at the expiry time of the offer (calculated on a fully-diluted basis). Accordingly, Inco has not yet taken up any of the Falconbridge common shares deposited under the offer.
Inco will mail a formal notice of extension to all Falconbridge shareholders on Friday, July 14, 2006.
