Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

On August 22, 2017, Douglas C. Eby resigned as a member of the Board of Directors of Markel Corporation to focus his full time and energy on Cambridge Science Corporation, a newly formed business venture that grew out of his appointment as a fellow in Harvard University’s Advanced Leadership Initiative.
