Inspired by her own life experiences and the power of inspirational faith-based verses, Kerry created the Family Fun and Faith store to help families across America celebrate the nation’s most precious holidays with personalized and meaningful gifts that will uplift spirits and spread positivity.
By keeping dozens of positive and inspirational phrases constantly at hand, Kerry found the strength to overcome and succeed her life’s early challenges – overcoming difficult teenage years (from ages 12-18, Kerry suffered from emotional abuse from her mother, who was a substance abuser long before the opioid crisis educated doctors and the public on the dangers of prescription drug addictions); graduating from university in three years with a double major; and raising two girls as a single mom in a large metropolitan city.
Those phrases were not only Bible verses, as Kerry’s Catholic faith has always meant the world to her, but also the words of perhaps the most well-known motivator of his time, Norman Vincent Peale, author of “The Power of Positive Thinking.” Dr. Peale’s book was actually the impetus for Kerry changing the way she thought – she found it in the school library when she was 15 or 16, and it put her on the path for a happier and more successful life.
College years were spent listening to motivational tape series loaned to her by her father. Her favorite series were “The Psychology of Winning” by Denis Waitley, and “I’ll see you at the top!” by the sales motivator Zig Ziglar. Some 40 years later, she can still perfectly recite some of the lessons she learned from those tapes, phrases like Ziglar’s: “You can have everything in life you want if you just help enough other people get what they want”, and Waitley’s “That which you create in beauty and goodness and truth lives on for all time to come. Don’t spend your life accumulating material objects that will only turn to dust and ashes.”
