In its second year, the Multimedia Online Virtual Exhibition 2021 generates revenue of over 1,580M Baht

The Department of International Trade Promotion or DITP, Ministry of Commerce announced the achievements of the second Multimedia Online Virtual Exhibition 2021 or MOVE, which was held June 23rd to 25th 2021.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Jurin Laksanawisit, introduced MOVE as a fresh component of the government’s support for the digital content industry of Thailand, with the goal of positioning Thailand as a hub of regional production. The event showcases the potential of Thai digital content producers, distributors and service providers, and creates a platform for online meetings and business introductions.

MOVE 2021 generated over 359 online meetings, with forecast revenue of over 1,580 million Baht. MOVE also introduced an online database of the Thai digital content industry, which attracted more than 4000 visitors.

This year’s MOVE event featured 50 Thai companies available for online meetings with 80 international on-line delegates. These delegates came from many different nations, with China, Argentina, Japan, Brazil and Vietnam most represented. All sectors of the industry attracted attention, including production, distribution and services of both film and television series.

Examples of promising negotiations include:

  • Hollywood (Thailand) Co.,Ltd. who will license a number of titles to a major Philippines online platform. And is in advanced talks regarding co-production with China.
  • Kantana Sound Studio Co., Ltd. who will provide localization services for a Singaporean online platform.
  • ASAP Corporation Co., Ltd. who will provide services to a UK production.

 

MOVE also offered live-streamed conferences and presentations with leading industry figures, who provided valuable background to the skills and potential that Thailand offers.

These included Lalita Homsangpradit from Hollywood (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Kamphol Prachyaset from WeTV Country Manager, Pansuek Thongrob from iQIYI Thailand, and Thawatchai Rerksamran from True Corporation Public Company Limited. There were over 1,000 Thai and foreign participants in these events.

With international business and trade events still disrupted by the global COVID-19 pandemic, it was vital to find new ways to connect the Thai digital content industry to the international market. By using latest VR technology, we have been able to nurture existing business relationships and create new partnerships.”
