After earning his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Dr. Young went on to complete his internship in internal medicine at San Diego Naval Hospital. This was followed by a residency in dermatology at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy for several years, during which time he traveled extensively and even lived several years abroad. However, when he first visited Cache Valley, he knew almost immediately it was the right place for him to settle down with his family.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Young is a member of several professional organizations, including the Utah Medical Association, the Intermountain Dermatology Society, the Utah Dermatologic Society, and the National Council Against Health Fraud.
Furthermore, he is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, which is one of the 24 medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties.
When he is not working, Dr. Young loves to travel. His hobbies include reading and researching U.S. history. In particular, he loves learning about Abraham Lincoln and the American Civil War, subjects about which he has read extensively, and even lectured on at BYU Education Week. He also enjoys collecting autographs, many of which are on display on the walls of Rocky Mountain Dermatology. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his family, whenever he can.
Dr. Jared R. Heaton, DO:
Dr. Heaton is dedicated to providing excellent, compassionate care and helping people enjoy healthy, beautiful skin. In addition to providing the life-saving service of Mohs surgery, he treats a variety of dermatological issues, from skin cancer diagnosis to moles, warts, acne, and everything in between.
Graduating with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Heaton went on to further his training. He completed his internship and residency at Largo Medical Center.
Board-certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology, he is a member of the American Society of Mohs Surgeons, the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, the American Academy of Dermatology, the Sigma Sigma Phi Osteopathic Honors Society, and the American Osteopathic Association.
Husband to a wonderful wife and father of three, Dr. Heaton enjoys spending his spare time snowboarding, parafoil kite flying, watching movies, grilling, and vacationing in Bear Lake with his family.
