Lookupfare Gears Up for Air Canada's New Endeavor

Air Canada has announced that it will be expanding its network in the USA; the carrier is all set to launch six new Air Canada Express routes and three new destinations to its route map

CLEVELAND - December 19, 2017 - (Newswire.com)

Air Canada has undertaken its next step in boosting its connectivity in the U.S. market. It recently announced the launch of six new Air Canada Express routes and three new destinations, expanding its route map.

The flag carrier of Canada will now offer scheduled passenger services to Omaha, Providence and Sacramento. The airline will operate flights to Omaha and Providence from its Toronto hub, while it will be using its Vancouver hub to operate flights to Sacramento.

The three new routes to be served by Air Canada are Montreal-Pittsburgh, Montreal-Baltimore/Washington (BWI) and San Francisco-Edmonton.

After commencing operations to Edmonton, Air Canada will operate flights to five destinations from San Francisco. It presently offers scheduled services to Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Calgary.

From both Pittsburgh and Baltimore, Montreal will expand the already-existing Air Canada service to Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Air Canada’s President for Passenger Airlines Benjamin Smith released an official statement stating, "We continue to strategically expand our already-extensive North American trans-border network to offer the only services from Canada to Sacramento, Omaha, Providence, and flights from additional Canadian airports to Baltimore, Pittsburgh and San Francisco."

He further added, "As the largest foreign carrier serving the USA, we are pleased to offer customers even more non-stop travel choices between Canada and the U.S., as well as the ability to conveniently connect onward through our extensive global network at our Canadian hubs on North America's Best Airline as rated by Skytrax.”

The announcement of the new U.S. routes by Air Canada is a sign of the airline’s aim to boost its global route network. Since 2015, Air Canada has constantly been adding new destinations to its route map including Marseille, Zagreb, Brisbane, Mumbai, Casablanca, Prague, Bucharest, Berlin and Algiers, among many others.

But the air carrier’s boldest step while expanding its services is well reflected on its routes to the USA. A sequence of added routes in the past couple of years has significantly improved the airline’s presence in the country. The airline is aiming to use its U.S. expansion to aid in its growing global operations from its hubs in Canada.

Smith also said, “To many of our customers in the United States, we’re this little secret that nobody knows about; this airline north of the border that actually flies internationally. If you want to go to Europe or Asia, you’ve got to fly over Canada if you’re originating or ending in the U.S. That puts us in a very privileged position to offer connections.”
