PRLog - Oct. 18, 2013 - CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Almost two thousand people have signed a petition circulating requesting that Senator Rubio allow Judge William Thomas’ nomination to move forward for appointment to the Federal Court for the Southern District of Florida. Senator Rubio interviewed Judge Thomas, the JNC which was partially appointed by Senator Rubio investigated and approved Judge Thomas, the ABA investigated and found him qualified for the appointment. Senator Rubio correctly sent Judge Thomas name to President Obama who nominated him. The Petition can be found here.

Now Senator Rubio has refused to issue a blue slip allowing the nomination to move forward with the full Senate. He cited, in part, his opinion of Judge Thomas’ ruling in a case, which was not accurate and the prosecutor for that case wrote a letter to Senator Rubio pointing that out and supporting Judge Thomas to be appointed to the Federal Bench.  The media has published numerous stories on  the Senator's recent change of heart including the New York Times, MSNBC, local ABC and CBS television affiliates,The Huffington Post and others.

Citizens are asking that the process be allowed to move forward without politics and that judicial nominations be based solely on merit.
