New York, New York, United States - 09-22-2022 (PR Distribution™) -
Matchrome Inc., dba SparcStart, the recruitment-marketing video platform announced today that it has settled the patent infringement lawsuit it brought against iCims, the Holmdel, New Jersey talent cloud company.
On December 16, 2021, SparcStart filed a patent infringement case against iCims for U.S. patent number 10,719,808, entitled Video Assisted Hiring System and Method. The case involved iCIMs’ Video Studio product, which is built on the technology of the former Altru Labs, a company iCIMS acquired previously.
“We are very pleased with the outcome of this case,” commented Maury Hanigan, CEO of SparcStart. “We are delighted to have resolved this matter and return our attention to bringing clients exceptional products and services.”
SparcStart was the first to understand the power of video in attracting candidates and helping employers differentiate their jobs, but large enterprises need secure approval processes and the ability to manage video at scale, so SparcStart created a patented software platform that is simple, secure and scalable.
SparcStart offers two products: Sparc – the job-description video enhancement platform, and Amplify VMS – the employer-brand and recruitment-marketing platform. Both products use SparcStart’s patented technology.
No additional details regarding the settlement were available.

With SparcStart, every aspect of TA including sourcing, recruiting, employer branding, campus recruiting, DEI, and onboarding directly connects employers to candidates through easily created, shared and stored video content. SparcStart's enhanced capabilities let every TA team member create credible and engaging video clips from hiring managers and employees while keeping the process simple, secure and scalable.
Launched in 2014, SparcStart transforms the text-only job description into a marketing tool by inviting candidates to “meet your boss.” Featuring 20-second video clips of the hiring manager and two co-workers, Sparcs differentiate jobs and help candidates understand what is special about an opportunity. The platform’s unique capability to capture video without downloading an app was expanded to Amplify VMS so employers can create informal video for their DEI efforts, campus recruiting, EVP messaging, social media campaigns, onboarding and other recruitment marketing activities.
