DALLAS-FORT WORTH, Texas - With North Texas families increasingly choosing to keep aging loved ones at home, Care Mountain is reporting a noticeable rise in demand for professional in-home senior care — a shift driven by safety concerns, chronic health conditions, limited senior housing supply, and the desire for independence later in life.
That trend mirrors broader demographic forces reshaping care decisions across Texas. According to a seniors report from Colliers, Texans age 65 and older now total 4.3 million people, representing 14% of the state’s population, and that group grew 3.8% from 2023 to 2024, outpacing national growth. Within the next decade, the 65+ population is projected to expand by 24.2%, reaching 5.4 million Texans.
Care Mountain, a family-owned home healthcare provider founded in 2004, currently operates eight offices across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, serving communities including Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyville, Flower Mound, Westlake, Trophy Club, Coppell, Euless, and Bedford. Known regionally as a trusted name in senior support, Care Mountain Texas has assisted more than 4,000 families and says requests for in-home assistance have continued to increase as families look for alternatives to institutional care.
Housing market dynamics are reinforcing that shift. New senior housing construction across major Texas metros — including Dallas — slowed in the first half of 2025 due to elevated capital and construction costs, with particularly limited development in nursing care facilities. At the same time, Dallas–Fort Worth ranks as the metro with the largest numerical increase in renters aged 65 and older in Texas, and the number of seniors renting single-family homes in the region has more than doubled over the past decade, according to regional housing data.
“Families across Dallas–Fort Worth are increasingly seeking dependable, personalized support to help loved ones age at home,” said Gagan Bhalla, Executive Director of Care Mountain. “That need continues to drive strong demand for in-home care built on trust and consistency.”
The company reports that many families first seek help after noticing changes in daily functioning — difficulty preparing meals, increased fall risk, missed medications, or growing isolation. In response, Care Mountain provides structured in-home support ranging from hourly assistance to 24/7 live-in care, as well as private-pay therapy services including physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory care. Specialized programs are available for seniors living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, heart failure, Parkinson’s disease, stroke recovery, and cancer.
According to Care Mountain Home Care Agency, professional caregivers are often the first to identify early warning signs that families may miss, including subtle weight changes, balance instability, increased confusion, or shifts in mood. Early intervention, the organization notes, can help prevent hospitalizations and allow seniors to remain safely at home longer.
Seasonal changes also contribute to increased risk. Shorter days, colder temperatures, and reduced mobility during winter months can intensify cognitive symptoms such as late-day confusion and agitation, particularly among seniors with memory conditions. Care Mountain encourages families to monitor these changes closely and seek support before concerns escalate.
Underlying these trends is a clear preference among older adults themselves. A national AARP survey found that nearly 90% of adults age 65 and older want to remain in their homes for as long as possible, reinforcing the growing role of in-home care as a primary solution for aging populations.
Despite its growth, Care Mountain says its internal structure remains intentionally family-focused, with many leadership positions filled by former caregivers. The organization holds accreditation from the Community Health Accreditation Partner and reports a zero-complaint history.
Care Mountain states it will continue expanding caregiver support and local service capacity in response to rising regional needs.
