Alan Airth Joins Delicato Family Wines
Airth brings extensive corporate board experience, including service on the Board of Mars, Incorporated from 2016–2025, where he chaired multiple committees and helped guide major acquisitions and portfolio transformation. He was the first non-family voting board member in Mars’ 100-year history, serving as a steward across multiple branches and six generations of ownership.
“Alan understands what it means to balance legacy and growth,” said Chris Indelicato, President and CEO of Delicato Family Wines. “As a family winery, we take a long view. His experience guiding multi-generational businesses and navigating evolving consumer markets will strengthen our Board and help ensure we continue building something that lasts.”
For more than a century, Delicato has relied on a diverse and experienced Board to provide oversight and strategic direction. As one of the largest family-owned wineries in the United States, Delicato remains grounded in its family values. Adding Alan strengthens that foundation, particularly as the wine industry continues to evolve and adapt to market conditions.
Alan shared his thoughts on joining Delicato:
“I am so pleased to join the Delicato Family Wines Board of Directors. I see and support the vision for the future - a long view with intentionality and aligned values, the ambition to grow over multiple generations, and the will to strategically evolve with a clear purpose. I care deeply about protecting both family and business, and I bring CPG and M&A experience that complements the challenges and opportunities the wine industry is navigating.”
We’re proud of the Board we have in place. It’s a group of experienced leaders and trusted advisors who care deeply about Delicato and our future. Our Board reflects both independent oversight and family heritage - with Michael Mondavi serving as Chairman; independent directors Bruce Chizen, Clarice Turner, and Alex Ryan; and family representatives Jay Indelicato, Marie Mathews, Cheryl Indelicato, and Francis Ford Coppola. With Alan joining this accomplished group, we continue to strengthen an already strong team.
Delicato Family Wines is a fourth-generation family-owned company founded in 1924 and ranks among the largest wine companies in the United States. Delicato has a diversified portfolio of leading wine brands including Bota Box, Coppola Diamond Collection, Noble Vines, Gnarly Head, Z Alexander Brown, Coppola Directors Cut, Black Stallion, Three Finger Jack, 1924, and Schmitt Sohne Family Wines in Germany. Transcendent Wines is Delicato’s fine wine portfolio and includes luxury brands such as Black Stallion Limited Release (in Napa) as well as imported luxury estate wines including Stoneleigh from New Zealand and Torbreck Vintners from Australia.
