What happened with the CrowdStrike update on July 19?

On Friday, July 19, CrowdStrike issued a software update that it admitted had a “defect,” causing millions of computers using Microsoft Windows to crash. Users reported constant rebooting and seeing what’s commonly known as the “blue screen of death” on their monitors.
