Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

     On July 17, 2009 the Board of Directors for Home BancShares, Inc. voted and approved the appointment of Randy E. Mayor to its board of directors. This expands the Home BancShares board from 11 to 12 members. Mr. Mayor will continue to serve as the chief financial officer (principal financial officer and principal accounting officer) for the Company. He will serve as a member of the Asset Quality and ALCO Committees.
